TVA To Close Road Over Wilson Dam Starting Today

January 12, 2015

FLORENCE, Ala. – Traffic across Wilson Dam on South Cox Creek Parkway/North Wilson Dam Road near Florence is closed due to inclement weather. The roadway will remain closed until the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 22, to allow for scheduled maintenance.

A complete closure is necessary for the safety of motorists and maintenance crews. TVA appreciates the public’s understanding while it continues to make improvements at the dam.

In the event of bad weather, the work may be extended or rescheduled. Motorists should expect delays and may want to consider another route. Signs will be placed on both sides of the bridge and gates will be in place.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is a corporate agency of the United States that provides electricity for business customers and local power distributors serving 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states. TVA receives no taxpayer funding, deriving virtually all of its revenues from sales of electricity. In addition to operating and investing its revenues in its electric system, TVA provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists local power companies and state and local governments with economic development and job creation.
