TVA Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Transmission Projects

March 13, 2017

PHILADELPHIA, MS – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input regarding upgrades to its transmission system involving two new transmission lines.

TVA is proposing to build 2 to 3 miles of transmission line in Longino and 4 to 5 miles of transmission line in Sandtown to serve new and expanded Central Electric Power Association substations. The transmission lines would be built on steel pole structures on a 100-foot-wide right of way. Several alternate line routes are under consideration.

Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house from 3-7 p.m. CDT on Thurs., March 23, 2017, at the Northside Park Senior Citizens Center, 100 Burt Drive, Philadelphia.

Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed transmission lines will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available.

The public may also submit comments by contacting TVA’s Cherie Minghini (for Sandtown) or Todd Moore (for Longino) toll free at 800-362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.gov or by mail to: Cherie Minghini or Todd Moore, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801.
