TVA Celebrates National Public Lands Day 2019 with Local Events in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority invites the public to join in celebrating National Public Lands Day 2019. TVA and its partners are hosting several events in the Knoxville area over the next two weekends aimed at keeping these public lands a destination for recreation users in the Tennessee Valley. National Public Lands Day Events

Watts Bar Lake Cleanup: Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at the Watts Bar Dam Reservation for pick-up on TVA’s Forest City Trail. 

Lenoir City Park – Keep the TN River Beautiful Cleanup: Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Living Lands & Waters will be partnering with Keep the Tennessee River Beautiful and TVA, bringing five boats to take volunteers to clean up litter along Fort Loudoun Lake shorelines. Worthington Cemetery National Public Lands Day: Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Meet at the Elza Gate Park in Oak Ridge and join the Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning and TVA to remove encroaching invasive vegetation and go on a guided walk.

Loyston Point National Public Lands Day: Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Meet at the Loyston Loop Trailhead on Lakeshore Drive in Andersonville for a work day on the Loyston Trails. Bring bikes and kids for a family ride once the work is done!

Norris Lake Cleanup: Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Volunteers will clean up the lakeshore. Boats will be provided, but if you have a boat you are welcome to bring it. Please register online at

Cherokee River and Lake Cleanup: Saturday, Nov. 9, 12 p.m. Meet at Gilmore Dock and German Creek Marina for the fall cleanup.
