TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Miss. Transmission Project

May 28, 2015

STARKVILLE, Miss., – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input about upgrades to its transmission system that would improve power reliability and provide power for growing load for Bluefield and surrounding areas.

TVA is proposing to build about 7 miles of transmission line from its Starkville-Sturgis 161-kilovolt transmission line to 4-County Electric Power Association’s new Bluefield substation southwest of Starkville.

The line would be built on steel pole structures on a 100-foot right of way. Several alternate line routes are under consideration.

Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house from 3-7 p.m. CDT on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the TVA Customer Service Center Auditorium; Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park; 310 Research Boulevard; Starkville, Mississippi.

Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed transmission line will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available at www.tva.com/power/projects/.

To submit comments, contact TVA’s Chris Austin toll free at 800-362-4355, by email at newtransline@tva.gov or by mail to: Chris Austin, Tennessee Valley Authority, 1101 Market St., MR 4G, Chattanooga, TN, 37402-2801. The deadline for comments is July 13, 2015.
