RESCHEDULED: TVA Public Meeting on Coal Combustion Products Disposal at Johnsonville

February 09, 2016

WAVERLY, Tenn. – With snow and ice in the area, TVA is postponing Wednesday’s planned informational public meeting to receive comments about options for disposal of ash and other coal combustion products at the Johnsonville Fossil Plant. The new date for the meeting will be Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Meriweather Lewis, 200 E. Commerce St. in Waverly.

To ensure concerned parties have a chance to review the presentation and send in comments, TVA is extending the public comment period until March 9.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is seeking public comment on plans to safely close coal combustion residual storage facilities at its coal-fired power plants.
TVA is issuing a Draft Environmental Impact Statement which considers the impacts of two primary closure methods for the CCR impoundments: (1) Closure-in-Place and (2) Closure-by-Removal. It also considers the site-specific impacts of closing 10 of TVA’s impoundments within three years.
More information as well as additional options for submitting comment is available at https://www.tva.gov/nepa.
