Upstream Berm Construction Begins

SEPTEMBER 8, 2017—Neighbors and boaters around Boone Dam are seeing more repair work activity as trucks and heavy equipment roll onto the site. According to project manager, Sam Vinson, TVA is purchasing materials from many local vendors—including as much as 250,000 tons of stone from local quarries—for the upstream berm construction. The stone will be used to add stability to the side of the earthen embankment. Construction plans call for widening the top of the dam to provide an improved working surface for cutoff wall construction.
