Seedlings Foster Fish and Fight Erosion

Approximately 500 button bush, water hickory and bald cyprus tree seedlings are being planted over the next few weeks in the Boone watershed and around the lake. The plants along the shoreline will help fight erosion; those that will eventually become submerged will provide fish habitat.

TWRA and TVA jointly donated the seedlings to Dennis Scheer, a member of both the Boone Watershed Partnership and Boone Lake Association boards. Posing with the seedlings in a photo are TWRA’s John Hammonds (below, left) and TVA’s Shannon O’Quinn.
