Hydroseeding Program Underway on Boone Lake

MAY 2, 2017—The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) is putting the finishing touches on hydroseeding of private property on the Holston River side of Boone Lake. TWRA’s Russell Young says conditions (first sunny, and then rainy) have been ideal for the new growth. This year’s mixture includes: Indian grass, little blue stem, black-eyed Susans, purple cone flowers and black-oil sunflowers. There is also brown-top millet (which grows quickly) and buckwheat. This year, liquid fertilizer was added to the mix. TVA buys mulch, seed and fertilizer; TWRA supplies the manpower and equipment.
