Economic Development Grant for Site Clearing and Building Demolition

Panola County, Mississippi

On May 13, 2015, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for a proposed economic development grant to the Panola Partnership in Panola County, Mississippi. The Panola Partnership is an economic development corporation in Panola County.

With the grant, the Panola Partnership proposes to conduct preliminary site preparation on a 294-acre property on the north side of Batesville, Mississippi. This site will eventually be marketed for large-scale development. Site preparation includes clearing approximately 22.6 acres of brush and trees as well as the demolition and removal of several abandoned buildings and farm structures. Abandoned farm equipment, materials, and debris would also be removed.
