Distributed Solar Solutions

Want to make a significant investment in solar energy technology for the benefit of the Valley? Partner with your local power company and let the sun shine in.

Distributed Solar Solutions is a TVA pilot program designed to encourage solar energy projects that are directed by its local power company (LPC) partners. The idea is to encourage more solar development across the Valley by seeding LPC partnerships with business and community interests. Because it is working at the local level, this program moves renewable energy closer to the customers.

Only solar photovoltaic systems qualify for Distributed Solar Solutions, and they must generate between 50 kW and 2 MW of electricity. Qualified applicants must apply through their local power company—or may be a local power company. There will be a total capacity offering of 10 MW for calendar year 2017.

To ensure that the solar installation will benefit TVA, the local power company and the community, it must meet specific criteria. These are spelled out in the DSS Guidelines.
