Plant and Technical Training

River System Operations and Environment (RSO&E) employees undergo multi-skill training in valve lab.
TVAs power programs have entered a new era in which the generation and transmission of electrical power have moved from an industrial to a technological model.
Craft training programs are designed to produce workers for TVAs fossil, hydro, and nuclear power plants, and for the transmission system, who are fully equipped to meet the demands of the technological age.
During the industrial era, workers concentrated primarily on specific tasks and simply followed rote instructions. Today, they must consider the larger picture and be able to think independently. Repetitive tasks have been replaced by problem solving and continuous improvement. A limited viewpoint has given way to a holistic perspective, and team building has superseded working in isolation. For example, significant investments are being made in teaching many of our incumbent craft employees multiple skills.
The training programs used in TVAs power plants and transmission system ensure that our workers are fully capable of carrying the corporation far into the technological future.
