Partners in Education

Mission

TVA’s Partners in Education (PIE) program assists schools in the Tennessee Valley in providing a quality education that ensures the future workforce and customer base have the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the challenges of the future.

This mission supports TVA’s Critical Success Factors:

• Develop workforce capabilities required to be the supplier and employer of choice.
• Achieve excellence in stakeholder relations and communications.

TVA views the education community as important stakeholders, and like many businesses and organizations, has formed partnerships with schools to improve academic and personal growth of America’s youth by sharing ideas, knowledge, and resources. This type of alliance adds value to our school systems, provides volunteer opportunities for employees, and helps ensure the success of TVA’s future workforce.

Outreach

TVA’s PIE initiative reaches more than 80 schools in the Tennessee Valley region including schools in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. We have about 70 PIE coordinators and many volunteers.

Together, they identify innovative educational activities and resources and integrate these into the school. During the past 20 years, thousands of Valley students have benefited from academic activities co-sponsored by TVA’s various organizations.

TVA also is a member of the Tennessee Association of Partners in Education.
