Several training programs and curricula have received accreditation from outside organizations.
Employees undergo training at TVAs Watts Bar Nuclear Training Center
One such organization is the National Academy for Nuclear Training, which has accredited TVA nuclear training programs after a formal process that includes review by the independent National Nuclear Accrediting Board. These programs provide training and continuing education for reactor operators, technicians, technical advisers, electrical and mechanical maintenance personnel, and engineering-support personnel.
The TVA Police Officer Certification Program received accreditation in 1998 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies and is reevaluated every three years. The TVA Police training programs include basic qualification for commissioned officers, requalification in several areas, such as firearms use, specialized instruction for marine and mounted patrol officers and others, and training for noncommissioned communications officers.
