It’s not too late to go camping

Cherokee Dam Campground
If you like to camp but prefer to avoid the heat and crowds, autumn is a good time to take advantage of one of TVA’s 11 scenic campgrounds.
All TVA-operated campgrounds will remain open until November 17, with the exception of Douglas Dam Tailwater Campground which will remain open until December 15.
TVA’s day-use recreation areas on dam reservations are open year-round and offer hiking trails, picnic areas, overlooks, beaches, swimming areas, fishing piers/berms, boat ramps, and wildlife viewing areas. TVA operates about 100 public recreation areas throughout the Valley.
Fees for campsites without water and electric hookups are $16 per day, and fees for sites with water and electric hookups are $20 per day. The upgraded sites at Melton Hill Campground with water, electric, and sewer service are $24 per day.
Holders of America the Beautiful Annual, Senior, or Access Passes or Golden Age or Golden Access Passports receive a 50-percent discount on daily camping fees. Purchase an annual pass or a lifetime Senior or Access Pass through the USGS online store.
TVA-managed day use areas and boat launch ramps are free to the public. Picnic pavilions which are available at many areas may be reserved for $50 by calling 866-494-7186. Most feature electrical outlets, large charcoal grills, and convenient access to restrooms.
