Request for Land Transfer to Expand Wildlife Refuge
Location
Clarks River Mile 21 L, Marshall County, Kentucky
Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has requested that TVA transfer 24.9 acres of land to the Clarks River Wildlife Refuge to permit expansion and continued management of wildlife habitat in the Clarks River floodplain. The requested land was originally purchased by TVA for the purpose of managing the wetland impacts created by the joint TVA – U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Kentucky Lock Project.
The property is located behind Wal-Mart in Benton, Kentucky, and is adjacent to the existing Wildlife Refuge property at Clarks River Mile 21 L. TVA is interested in receiving comments on the potential of the proposed transfer to affect the environment or historic properties, as well as any other issue associated with this proposal. TVA will use these comments to reach a decision about the proposal.
