Douglas Reservoir at French Broad River mile 64.2 in Jefferson and Cocke Counties, Tenn
TVA is considering a request to modify the deeds for two tracts of land affecting approximately 11.6 acres of flowage easement on Douglas Reservoir at French Broad River mile 64.2 in Jefferson and Cocke Counties, Tenn. TVA is seeking public comments on the proposal as part of an environmental review prior to deciding on the deed modifications.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is planning to replace the aging Walter’s Bridge on State Route 32 (U.S. Highway 25E) across Douglas Reservoir with a new bridge just upstream of the existing bridge. TDOT has asked TVA to forfeit its deeded right to remove structures on the two tracts on either side of the reservoir to allow for the new bridge. The new bridge will improve functionality, structural capacity, and vertical and horizontal bridge clearances.
TVA is interested in receiving comments on the potential for the proposed action to affect the environment or historic properties, and to identify any other issues associated with the proposal. The comments will be used to identify issues to be addressed in the environmental review for the proposed deed modifications.
Any comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection. All written comments on this proposed action must be received on or before August 6, 2012. Written comments may be mailed to the address below or emailed to email@example.com.
