Power Supply Upgrade
TVA plans to build about two miles of new transmission line to provide power to North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation’s new substation.
The route would be on existing right-of-way, except for 700 feet of new right-of-way adjacent to the substation. The route extends south from TVA’s existing Bradley-Concord 161-kilovolt transmission line in Apison, Tennessee to the new Mt. Vernon Substation, located east of the intersection of Mt. Vernon Road and Keith Road in Ringgold, Georgia. See the map below.
The transmission line would consist of steel poles centered on the existing 100-foot-wide right-of-way, as well as the 700 feet of new right-of-way.
The new facilities are expected to be in service October 2012.
By continuing to provide affordable, reliable power, TVA and the distributors of TVA power will help ensure continued economic health and growth in the area.

Environmental reviews
The appropriate National Environmental Policy Act review will be conducted to ensure that the environmental impacts are minimized. TVA attempts to minimize any land requirements, private property impacts, and environmental impacts associated with this project.
