Transmission System Projects

The following transmission line projects are currently being carried out by TVA.

Alabama

Huntsville
TVA has announced a preferred route for about thirteen and half miles of transmission line to power Huntsville Utilities’ expanded substation and provide continued reliable power to the growing area.

Georgia

Calhoun
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would that would improve electric reliability by providing a second source of reliable power to the area.

Kentucky

Oak Grove, Kentucky
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system near Oak Grove, Kentucky, located south of Hopkinsville, between Fort Campbell and Pembroke, Kentucky. The improvements will provide continued reliable power to the area.

Mississippi

Ashland
TVA proposes to build 15 miles of transmission line in Benton and Marshall Counties, Mississippi to power a new substation and improve electric reliability in the area.

Philadelphia – House Project
TVA proposes to build about 12 miles of transmission line in Neshoba County to power an upgraded substation and improve power reliability in the area.

Tupelo
TVA proposes to build 12-15 miles of transmission line in Union and Lee Counties, Mississippi to relieve possible overloading on existing lines and improve electric reliability in the area.

Tennessee

Cornersville
TVA has chosen a preferred route for a new transmission line that would improve electric reliability by providing power to Duck River EMC's new substation in Cornersville.

Hillsboro
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power Duck River EMC's new substation in Hillsboro, Tennessee, needed to reduce electric service interruptions and provide reliable electric service to the area.

Knox County
TVA is considering building two new transmission lines and a switching station that would relieve overloaded equipment and provide additional power to the East Knox County area.

Lebanon (Vesta Road)
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system in the Lebanon, Tennessee area.

Haywood County, Tennessee
TVA is considering transmission line routes that will provide power to the new Memphis Regional Megasite, located in Haywood County.

Putnam and Cumberland Counties
New 500 kilovolt transmission equipment is needed in Putnam and Cumberland Counties by 2016 to meet anticipated power loads.

Rugby (Sunbright and Deer Lodge)
TVA is considering building a substation and six to nine miles of transmission line to improve power reliability in Morgan County.

Selmer – Adamsville
TVA is considering improvements to the transmission system in the Selmer-Adamsville area. The proposed project includes a new switching station and transmission line.

Spencer
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power Caney Fork EC's new 161,000 volt substation and provide additional power for growing load in the area.

South Pittsburg
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power Sequachee Valley EC's new 161,000 volt substation and provide additional power for growing industrial load in the area.

Woodland Mills
TVA is considering building a transmission line that would power Gibson EMC's new substation, needed to improve power reliability and provide industrial expansion in the area.
