Transmission System Projects
The following transmission line projects are currently being carried out by TVA.
Alabama
Bridgeport
TVA plans to build a new 161-kV transmission line to maintain reliable electric service, meet growing demand and avoid possible power supply disruptions to industrial areas of Bridgeport, Alabama.
Georgia
Murray County
TVA has identified a preferred route for a proposed transmission line to serve North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation’s new substation near Gregorys Mill.
Gordon and Whitfield Counties
TVA is proposing construction of a new 15.5-mile transmission line in North Georgia to improve reliability and meet the growing power demand.
Kentucky
Bowling Green
TVA has identified its proposed route for building 6 miles of new 161-kilovolt transmission line from its existing East Bowling Green-South Scottsville transmission line to Bowling Green Municipal
Glasgow
TVA is planning improvements to the transmission system around Glasgow. Due to growth in the area, upgrades are needed to relieve overloaded facilities and ensure a reliable supply of power to the area.
Mississippi
DeSoto County
TVA has identified its preferred route for a new transmission line in
Pleasant Hill, Mississippi. The 4.2-mile line will connect with a proposed
161-kV substation to be built by Northcentral Mississippi Electric Power Association.
Golden Triangle Area
TVA is considering building a new transmission line to provide backup power for several large industries. The new line would be about 13 miles long and begin at the new Catalpa Creek Substation.
Lowndes County
TVA is planning improvements to the transmission system in Lowndes County. The Golden Triangle area is experiencing significant industrial growth and transmission system upgrades are needed to ensure a reliable power supply to the area.
Mt. Pleasant
TVA has chosen a preferred route for the new transmission line in the Mt. Pleasant area to serve the Coldwater Substation that will be built by Holly Springs Electric Department.
Scott County
TVA has selected a preferred route for a new 161-kV transmission line west of Lake, Mississippi, and proposes to rebuild a portion of an existing line to support the new line.
Tennessee
Bradley and Hamilton Counties
TVA has announced a preferred site for the proposed 500-kV substation near the border of Bradley and Hamilton counties in Tennessee.
Cookeville-Algood
TVA has identified a preferred site for the proposed transmission line to serve the Algood substation, which will be upgraded to meet the growing power needs of the area.
Cumberland-Montgomery 500-kV line and Oakwood
161-kV line
TVA has announced its preferred route for this 500-kV line that will run from Cumberland Fossil Plant to the Montgomery Substation near Clarksville, Tennessee.
Fayetteville
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would provide power to Fayetteville Public Utilities’ new substation.
Goose Creek
TVA has chosen a preferred route for a new transmission line in the Goose Creek area to serve Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation’s new substation.
Greeneville
TVA has identified a preferred route for building a transmission line to serve Greeneville Light & Power System’s new substation on Industrial Boulevard in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Hardeman County
TVA proposes to build a second transmission line into the Bolivar Primary Substation to maintain a reliable power supply in the area.
Monroe
A new transmission line is needed to maintain reliable electric service and meet growing demand in the Livingston and Dale Hollow Lake areas
Nolensville
TVA proposes to build a transmission line to serve Middle Tennessee EMC's new substation south of Nolensville, Tennessee to meet the growing supply needs of the area.
Obion
TVA has identified its preferred route for a transmission line to serve Gibson Electric Membership Corporations's new Polk Substation that is being built to meet growing power needs in the Obion-Troy area.
Ocoee Transmission Line
TVA needs to replace its existing 69-kilovolt transmission line between Ocoee No. 2 and Ocoee No. 3 hydro plants, which runs through the Ocoee River Gorge in the Cherokee National Forest. The replacement line may be located outside the Ocoee River Gorge.
Rutherford-Williamson-Davidson Improvement Project
TVA is considering building a new 500-kilovolt (kV) substation and upgrading associated transmission lines. The substation would be located in Rutherford, Williamson, or Davidson County, with new and/or upgraded transmission lines also located in these and other counties in middle Tennessee.
Spring Hill
TVA is considering building a new transmission line that would provide power to Middle Tennessee EMC’s new substation in the growing southern Williamson County area.
