Bull Run Dry Gypsum & Fly Ash Storage

January 16, 2012

As part of the effort to expand the Bull Run Plant boundary, TVA has purchased 17 tracts of land totaling close to 130 acres. TVA continues to meet with property owners in the areas identified for expansion and has not and will not force anyone to sell.

Approximately 100 acres of the land purchased is being evaluated as a potential on-site storage option for dry gypsum and fly ash.

Drilling crews began investigations Monday, January 16, to determine the area’s geologic make-up and potential suitability for a storage facility.  Work is anticipated to last approximately two months, taking place Monday-Friday from sunrise to sunset.
