TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project

ADDISON, Ala. – To improve the reliability of electric service in the Addison area, TVA is proposing improvements to its transmission system and is encouraging public input on the proposed improvements, beginning with an open house in Addison Nov. 19.

Improvements would include a new Cullman Electric Cooperative substation in Arley and a new TVA 161-kilovolt transmission line six to seven miles long.

The proposed new line would extend south from TVA’s existing Addison 161-kV line to the new Helicon substation, located in Arley between County Road 40 and Helicon Road. TVA is considering several alternative routes for the line from a network of nine possible line segments.

TVA will present the alternatives at an open house to be held from 3 to 7 p.m. CST Nov. 19 at the Addison Community Center, 16391 County Road 41 in Addison. Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the proposed power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals.
