TVA To Close One lane of Highway 153 Across Chickamauga Dam

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Traffic on Highway 153 across TVA’s Chickamauga Dam (Thrasher Bridge) will be restricted to one lane during the next two weekends for repairs to the bridge lighting system.

One lane across the dam will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, until 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, and from 5 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, until 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28. Motorists may want to consider another route during those hours.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financing. TVA provides power to large industries and 159 power distributors that serve approximately 8.8 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
