September 21, 2011
PADUCAH, Ky. — Construction crews for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close public access to Powerhouse Island at Kentucky Dam from Sunday, Sept. 25, until Thursday, Sept. 29, so crews can complete a new entrance to the area.
The island is a popular fishing spot located between the navigation locks and the main concrete dam and powerhouse. During the temporary closure, the Kentucky Dam visitor’s center, which is located adjacent to the powerhouse, will also be closed.
