TVA Determines Preferred Use for Mountain Reservoir Lands

July 23, 2009

TVA has published the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Mountain Reservoirs Land Management Plan developed to assess uses of TVA lands on Apalachia, Blue Ridge, Chatuge, Fontana, Hiwassee, Nottely, Ocoee 1, Ocoee 2, and Ocoee 3 reservoirs.

A copy of the FEIS and plan are available.

TVA considered comments from the public, state and federal agencies, stakeholder groups, public officials and distributors of TVA power in developing a preferred alternative for the uses of TVA land.

“We thank everyone who submitted comments to guide us in the development of the preferred alternative uses,” said Angela Sims, manager of TVA’s Chickamauga-Hiwassee Watershed Team. “Our goal is to continue the best possible management of the lands around the reservoirs. Through the public involvement process, we identified issues and concerns from the people in these areas.”

The Mountain Reservoirs Land Management Plan and preferred alternative will be presented to the TVA Board for approval. If approved by the Board, the plan will serve as the guide for future land use management of TVA land around the nine reservoirs.

For a compact disk or printed copy of the FEIS and plan, please contact Jim Williamson, TVA NEPA Resources, 400 W. Summit Hill Dr. WT-11D, Knoxville, TN 37902, or call toll-free 1-800-TVA-LAND.
