Boone Reservoir Marina Meets Clean Marina Criteria
August 20, 2009
Gray, Tenn. – Sonny’s Marina and Cafe on Boone Reservoir will soon fly the Clean Marina flag in recognition of its meeting high standards that preserve and protect water quality in the Tennessee River system.
In a ceremony at the marina at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, TVA will present a Clean Marina certificate, flag and other awards to Ryta Cornett, the owner of Sonny’s.
“Sonny’s management showed a strong commitment to reaching Clean Marina certification from the time they took ownership in 2007," said Anne Patrick, TVA’s Clean Marina coordinator for Boone Reservoir.
Sonny’s is the 84th marina in the Tennessee Valley to meet all certification requirements and earn the Clean Marina designation. TVA’s Clean Marina program helps marina owners protect water quality by sponsoring boater education and taking measures to reduce water pollution and erosion.
“Sonny’s is proud to be a certified Clean Marina because it helps keep Boone Reservoir cleaner and safer,” said Cornett. “Boone Reservoir has improved tremendously over the years because of TVA’s efforts in encouraging everyone to work together to achieve a clean reservoir that we can all enjoy.”
