TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project
March 18, 2014
RUGBY, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public to comment on planned transmission system improvements to increase power reliability in Morgan County.
TVA is proposing to build a new Rugby Substation and connect it to the nearby Livingston-Huntsville 161-kilovolt line. TVA also proposes to build six to nine miles of transmission line from the new Rugby Substation to Plateau Electric Cooperative’s existing Sunbright Substation. The line would be built on steel pole structures on new 100-foot right of way. Several substation locations and alternate line routes are under consideration.
Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 3-7 p.m. EDT, at the Sunbright School Cafeteria, 205 Burrville Road, Sunbright, Tenn.
Detailed maps showing the different locations being considered for the proposed system upgrades will be available. TVA staff will answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments. More information is available.
