Weather Delays Lane Closures at Ft. Loudoun Dam, Kingston
March 22, 2013
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Scheduled highway lane closures for geotechnical work at Fort Loudoun Dam and Kingston Dike have been delayed by two weeks because of weather conditions, the Tennessee Valley Authority announced Friday.
TVA has contracted to perform core drilling to assess the health of all 49 TVA dams as part of a continuous improvement campaign. The work at Fort Loudoun Dam will take about eight weeks. Some of this work will be performed from highways, affecting traffic flow.
Lane closures planned for this weekend, March 23-26, at Fort Loudon and Kingston Dike have been rescheduled to the following:
- One lane of U.S. 321 at Fort Loudoun Dam will be closed from 8 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 5, until noon on Monday, April 8. Travel will be controlled by a temporary traffic light.
- One lane of U.S. 70 in Kingston at the Kingston Dike will be closed from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. EDT on Sunday, April 7. Travel through this section will be controlled by flaggers.
