Janet Brewer Named TVA Communications Vice President
March 26, 2012
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority has named Janet Brewer vice president of communications. She joins TVA from NCR Corp., where she most recently served as vice president for corporate communications.
Brewer has been with NCR, a $5.4 billion global technology company based in the Atlanta area, since 2005. She has served as director of community relations, vice president of change management and communications for continuous improvement, and vice president of corporate communications.
She will be based at TVA’s headquarters in Knoxville effective March 26.
“We recognize the importance of communications and brand management as we work toward TVA’s vision to be one of the nation’s leaders in providing low-cost, reliable and cleaner energy. Janet brings excellent experience that will help TVA achieve that vision,” said Joe Hoagland, senior vice president for Policy and Oversight.
Before joining NCR, Brewer led the corporate communications team at LexisNexis, a provider of online decision support information, and The Reynolds and Reynolds Co., an information management company for the automotive industry. A graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, she served on numerous civic organization boards in Dayton, Ohio, where NCR was headquartered prior to a move to suburban Atlanta in 2010.
The Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for business customers and distribution utilities that serve 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development.
