TVA Donates Funds For New Pumper Tank To Drakesboro VFD

DRAKESBORO, Ky. - The Tennessee Valley Authority donated $5,000 to the Drakesboro Volunteer Fire Department to help fund a new water tank for a pumper truck.
The department is one of the closest response agencies for TVA’s Paradise Fossil Plant.
“The Drakesboro Volunteer Fire Department is an important resource, not only for TVA, but for the community it serves,” said Nancy Mitchell, TVA Valley Relations manager.
The funds will be used to replace a steel water tank on the truck that’s needed constant repairs. The department has purchased a plastic tank that should last longer than the metal one.
TVA serves more than 200,000 households across 7,500 square miles in Kentucky.
The Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development.
