TVA To Lower Level of Melton Hill Reservoir; River Rescue Set

March 26, 2009

TVA will temporarily lower the level of Melton Hill Reservoir Saturday, March 28, through Sunday, April 6, to allow property owners to repair docks, stabilize the shoreline and participate in a shoreline cleanup.

During this period, the annual River Rescue cleanup will be held Saturday, April 4, on Melton Hill, Fort Loudoun and Watts Bar reservoirs.

For information about cleanup locations and where to pick up TVA trash bags and gloves for litter pickup or for information about private docks or shoreline stabilization, contact TVA’s Watts Bar-Clinch Watershed Team at (865) 632-1320.

TVA will hold the level of Melton Hill between elevations 790 to 792 feet until April 6, when TVA will begin raising the reservoir level to its seasonal elevation of 795 feet.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financing. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve approximately 9 million consumers in seven southeastern states. TVA also manages the Tennessee River and its tributaries to provide multiple benefits, including flood damage reduction, navigation, water quality and recreation.
