TVA Asks for Comments on Proposed Transmission Project
March 18, 2008
SPRING HILL, Tenn. – To provide continued reliable electric service to the growing southern Williamson County area, TVA is planning improvements to its transmission system in that area.
Public input on the planned improvements is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Thursday, March 20, in Franklin.
Improvements include a new 161-kilovolt transmission line, which will be about three miles long. The line will power Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation’s new substation on Owl Hollow Road, about three-fourths of a mile northeast of the interchange of state Route 396 and Interstate 65.
Ten alternative routes are being considered for the line. All of the routes begin at either TVA’s Maury-East Franklin No. 2 161-kV line west of the substation site and south of Route 396, or at a future transmission line (being built as part of TVA’s Rutherford 500-kilovolt substation project) south of the substation site and east of I-65. The new line will supply reliable power to the growing area.
TVA will present the alternative routes for the line at an open house to be held from 3 -7 p.m. CST at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park, UT Extension Office, 4215 Long Lane, in Franklin. Detailed maps showing the network of alternative routes for the power line will be available, and TVA staff will be on hand to answer questions, discuss potential concerns and receive comments on the proposals. A map is available.
