TVA, Distributors Honor energy right® Award Winners

March 8, 2007

TVA and local power companies that participate in TVA’s energy right® program have recognized companies throughout the Tennessee Valley that helped homeowners and businesses control their energy use during 2006 by installing high-efficiency heat pumps and building energy-efficient homes.

TVA and the participating distributors recently honored Johnson Heating and Cooling in Scottsboro, Ala.; Ole South Properties in Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and International Mobile Homes in Powell, Tenn., for having the most Valley-wide installations in their category during 2006. Other companies were honored as regional winners.

Johnson Heating and Cooling, owned by David Johnson, was an award winner in the Heat Pump Category for having the highest number of qualifying heat pump installations. The company has been an energy right® partner since 1997 and has been offering heating, cooling and electrical services in the northeast Alabama area for 28 years.

Ole South Properties, owned by John Floyd, received the New Homes Installation award for building the highest number of qualifying high-efficiency, all-electric new homes. Ole South Properties has been an energy right® partner since 1997 and has been building all-electric homes in the Rutherford County area for 10 years.

International Homes, managed by Randy Clark, won the award in the Manufactured Homes category for the highest number of qualifying manufactured home heat pump installations. International Mobile Homes has been an energy right® partner since 1997 and was also a Valley-wide award winner in 2005.

“Our trade allies and partners in the energy right® program play an important role in TVA and local power companies’ efforts to help consumers manage their energy use and costs,” said Jim West, TVA energy right® program manager. “These valuable partners build the homes and install energy-efficient electric heat pumps and water heaters that provide year-round comfort and savings for thousands of Valley residents.”

Local public power companies and TVA developed the energy right® program to help consumers save money through efficiency improvements in their home and business energy usage. The energy right® program provides support to builders and contractors that build all- electric and energy-efficient homes or install highly efficient heat pumps and water heaters.
