TVA Donates $2,500 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Mississippi Golden Triangle

STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Tennessee Valley Authority has donated $2,500 to the Boys and Girls Club organizations of the Golden Triangle region in Mississippi.

The gift will help support Boys and Girls Club programs across Lowndes and Oktibbeha counties. The youth initiatives include character building, leadership development and life skills.

"These organizations provide valuable benefits including education and social skills to many youths across our Mississippi service area," Amy Tate, TVA Valley Relations manager, said. "The Boys and Girls Club program's success is important to the communities they serve."

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle area serve more than 250 students daily with 800-plus hours of programs and events each year. The triangle is formed by the cities of Columbus, Starkville and West Point.

TVA serves more than 320,000 households across 16,000 square miles in Mississippi.

The Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development.
