June 24, 2010

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Steve McMillen has been selected as vice president of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Talent Management group.

McMillen comes to TVA with more than 20 years of experience in talent management and leadership development. He will oversee work force planning, performance and competency management, leadership development, succession planning, learning and development, and compensation models.

The announcement was made by Janet Herrin, executive vice president of TVA’s People and Performance organization. A TVA veteran of more than 30 years, Herrin is responsible for building and maintaining the quality and effectiveness of TVA’s work force, coordinating personnel policies and operations, talent management and labor relations.

“Steve has proven his ability to identify, promote, develop and retain talent in several major companies, including Hillenbrand Industries, the Thomson Corp. and O’Charley’s,” Herrin said.

McMillen, who is based in Chattanooga, holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northern Kentucky University and a doctorate in education from the University of Cincinnati.

McMillen succeeds Susan Stout, who served as acting vice president of Talent Management since December 2009. She returned to her position as senior manager of Talent Sourcing and Support Services group in TVA’s People and Performance organization.
