Campbell Named General Manager of TVA Customer Service for West Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority has named Laura Campbell as general manager of customer service for TVA’s West Tennessee District based in Memphis.
Campbell comes to TVA from Memphis Light, Gas & Water, TVA’s largest power distributor, where she worked since 2003, most recently as assistant manager of energy resources. At TVA, she succeeds Gary Harris, now TVA vice president for industrial marketing.
In her TVA customer service role, Campbell’s primary responsibilities will include oversight of power distributor accounts in TVA’s West Tennessee District, manage operations of TVA customer service staff and help guide development of customer products, services and support.
“Laura shares TVA’s strong commitment to building strong customer relationships,” said TVA Executive Vice President for Customer Relations Ken Breeden. “Her experience in power distribution and customer service will be a tremendous benefit to TVA and our West Tennessee distributors.”
TVA’s West Tennessee District includes 22 power distributors serving about 622,000 residential customers and about 100,000 commercial and industrial customers in 21 counties.
Before coming to TVA, Campbell directed customer service staff responsible for MLG&W’s largest client accounts. Her management duties also included contracts, pricing, rates and billing issues, and the acquisition, risk management and long-term supply plan for natural gas.
Campbell’s previous experience also includes work as a member of the energy engineering team at Allen & Hoshall, a Memphis engineering design firm; as a project engineer for Johnson Controls, a Milwaukee, Wisc.-based engineering and building efficiency company; as a senior financial analyst at Memphis shipping giant Federal Express, and as a system planning analyst at Southern Company, a regional electric power generator in Atlanta, Ga.
Campbell earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Memphis and is a registered professional engineer in Tennessee.
The Tennessee Valley Authority, a corporation owned by the U.S. government, provides electricity for 9 million people in parts of seven southeastern states at prices below the national average. TVA, which receives no taxpayer money and makes no profits, also provides flood control, navigation and land management for the Tennessee River system and assists utilities and state and local governments with economic development.
