Small boats are used to stretch floating booms which contains Cenospheres prior to removal from the environment. About 25 boats and more than 6,500 feet of floating boom have been deployed to support the Cenosphere recovery program. Cenospheres are an inert floating byproduct formed by the burning of coal at the TVA Kingston Fossil Plant. Cenospheres are not considered a health risk but can be unsightly.
