Cenospheres captured along with river debris are removed from the environment using barge-mounted vacuum suction devices and handheld dipping devices. Cenospheres are an inert floating byproduct formed by the burning of coal at the TVA Kingston Fossil Plant. Cenospheres are not considered a health risk but can be unsightly.
