Ways to make your benefits ‘green’
Going green with your TVA benefits can help you and the environment. Here are some ways:
Did you know there is a fast, paperless way you can receive your BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Explanation of Benefits notices online? An EOB is a summary of how your healthcare claim has been processed.
By registering your EOB delivery preference on BlueAccess, the secure area available on the BCBST Web site at www.bcbst.com, you can choose to receive an e-mail notification that an EOB has been posted in your secure BlueAccess Web site account. Then you simply click on the link in the e-mail, sign in to BlueAccess and view the new EOB immediately. If you need a paper copy, you can print the EOB.
Using BlueAccess allows you to check the status of your claims faster. And by reducing the use of paper, you have made a positive impact on the planet and reduced administrative costs of postage and printing, as well.
Of the TVA medical-plan members who have registered on BlueAccess, 27 percent have already gone “green” by receiving their EOBs online.
Are you keeping all your prescription-drug receipts and then making copies to file a Healthcare flexible spending account claim or to keep as documentation for your Health Savings Account disbursements? You can cut out all that clutter and extra paper by registering for a secure account at www.medcohealth.com.
Once registered, log in and click Claims & Balances. You’ll see a summary of the prescription-drug purchases you have made through your TVA medical-plan coverage. Everything you need — date of service, amount you paid and more — is shown for you to use as a receipt for a spending-account claim or keep as an HSA receipt. Just print this summary document.
How do you get to work? To cut down on environmental pollutants, you can rideshare or use mass transit to travel to work and have your expenses reimbursed up to specific limits.
