Lovers Lane Soccer Complex

TVA’s first solar power arrays in Kentucky will generate lots of public awareness for renewable energy sources. The solar photovoltaic (PV) system is located at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex in Bowling Green, Kentucky, right next to the concession stand. Besides producing electricity for the Green Power Switch program, the solar arrays provide shade for soccer players and spectators.

Each of the four arrays has 240 PV modules, which are made of a light-sensitive material sandwiched between two plates of glass. The entire system can produce about 53,900 kilowatt-hours of electricity a year; that’s equal to 360 blocks of electricity for Green Power Switch customers. Bowling Green Municipal Utilities is the local distributor in Kentucky that offers Green Power Switch to its customers.
