Ijams Nature CenterIjams Nature Center

Ijams Nature Center is an 80-acre park and environmental education center located on the south shore of Fort Loudoun Reservoir in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is a host site for a solar photovoltaic (PV) system that will provide electricity for the Green Power Switch program. The PV arrays are near the visitors’ center, where an interactive exhibit helps explain the benefits of green power.

Ijams (pronounced "eye-ums") is home to a wide variety of animals, including turtles, raccoons, and muskrats. It’s also a bird sanctuary with more than 40 species of nesting birds. The center’s woods, trails, and gardens make it a perfect place for people of all ages to learn about the environment and simply enjoy nature. See the Ijams Web site for more information on the center and its programs.
