EPB employees, students work to beautify school grounds
CHATTANOOGA—EPB employees celebrated Earth Day by working with the students and faculties of Brainerd High School and Orchard Knob Middle School to plant shrubs and flowers at the schools’ front entrances. The plantings took place over four days, culminating on Friday, April 22. “This is our second consecutive Earth Day service project with Brainerd High School and Orchard Knob Middle School,” said Hosea Pierce, EPB’s Community Relations Specialist. “EPB is very proud of its longstanding partnership with the schools, and we continue to be impressed by the students’ enthusiasm for volunteerism.” Last year, EPB employees and students planted trees at each of the schools. The project enabled EPB tree experts to educate the students about the importance of trees to the environment and teach them which trees were suitable for planting near power lines.
