Tennessee Valley Public Power Association

The Tennessee Valley Public Power Association is an organization of the the local distributors of TVA power that provides business services to its members and serves as an advocate for local power distributors.

The association provides TVA with suggestions and advice on existing and possible research and development projects and in many cases supplies venues for demonstration research projects carried out in partnership with TVA.

The use of electricity by consumers is a critical area where important technology breakthroughs are being made affecting how much electricity needs to be generated. Research in energy efficiency and demand response usually requires partnering between TVA and local power distributors.

TVA and the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association also need to work together as the TVA region develops new technology to create a smart grid system and set up the vehicle charging stations to support electric cars. These changes have significant implications for energy use and how rates and billing will evolve over time.
