TVA was a founding member of the institute in 1973. In 2010, TVA was involved in 25 of the institute's programs as a collaborative partner. Approximately 70 percent of TVA’s total R&D budget in 2010 is currently allocated to projects jointly funded with the Electric Power Research Institute and the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association.
