Other Research and Development Partners

In addition to TVPPA and EPRI, TVA partners with a number of other organizations.

TVA is a member of some of these organizations, such as the Center for Energy Advancement Through Technology Innovation, the Gasification Technologies Council, and the Research and Technology Management Forum. TVA participates with other organizations in special projects, trainings and sharing of information.

TVA and the Center for Energy Advancement Through Technology Innovation are part of the Strategic Options for Sustainable Power Generation Interest Group, which researches issues in renewable energy, clean fossil power generation and greenhouse gas control.

Recent projects sponsored by the interest group include

• a survey of biomass torrefaction
• a feasibility study on above-ground compressed air energy storage
• a model study of the integration of concentrated solar power with fossil generation
• development and monitoring of a kinetic underwater flow turbine
• study of the impact, reliability and operation of a plug-in hybrid vehicle.
