Purchase of Power Generated at Weyerhaeuser NR Company Cellulose Fibers Facility
Lowndes County, Mississippi
On September 3, 2013, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for a proposed power purchase agreement for electricity generated at the Weyerhaeuser NR Company Cellulose Fibers Facility.
Weyerhaeuser is planning to increase operations of a biomass-fueled generator system, to produce up to 20 megawatts of power. The generator system is installed at Weyerhaeuser’s Columbus Mississippi facility. The EA evaluates the potential environmental impacts of modifying associated auxiliary systems and increasing the operation of the generating facility.
