Watts Bar Nuclear Steam Generator Replacement

Steam generators, like any other heat exchanger or large piece of equipment, wear or degrade with usage. The resulting repairs would increase with time leading to larger losses of generation and lost revenue to TVA. Ultimately, this situation could lead to the shutdown of the unit. Replacement of the steam generators would maintain the generation capability of WBN Unit 1. TVA accepted public comment from January 28 to February 28, 2005, on the draft of the Environmental Assessment. After consideration of comments received, TVA has prepared a Final Environmental Assessment (FEA) which considered the impacts of the No Action Alternative and the Proposed Action Alternative, and issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
