Tennessee Department of Transportation Northwest Connector State Route 462
Crossville (Cumberland County), Tennessee
On July 15, 2011, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Northwest Connector State Route (SR) 462 project, a 4.5-mile roadway connecting SR 1 (US 70) and SR 298 (Genesis Road). The TDOT has requested approval under Section 26a of the TVA Act for proposed stream channel encapsulation and relocations, wetland and channel fill, and placement of riprap associated with the new SR 462 connector roadway segments. An environmental assessment (EA) was prepared for the project by the TDOT and was approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) on June 13, 2007. A FONSI was issued by the FHWA on October 20, 2008. In accordance with TVA’s procedures for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), TVA independently reviewed the potential impacts associated with the proposed action and reasonable alternatives (No Build Alternative and Build Alternative) from the 2007 FHWA/TDOT EA.
TVA concurs with the findings and has decided to adopt the 2007 FHWA/TDOT EA. The TVA FONSI is presented below, and the 2007 FHWA/TDOT EA is available upon request.
