Tennessee National Private Marina
Watts Bar Reservoir, Loudon County, Tennessee
On June 18, 2008, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact for the construction of water use facilities, dredging, and other developments at the Tennessee National Waterfront Golf Community. This area is being developed by Tennessee National, LLC, as a residential community on over 1,450 acres of private land on Watts Bar Reservoir in Loudon County. The property is between Tennessee River miles 580 and 583.6 along the left-descending bank. Specific activities requiring TVA approval are construction of a private marina, a private launching ramp, two courtesy piers, one transient pier, shoreline stabilization, a boardwalk, the excavation of 70,900 cubic yards of material from the reservoir bottom, the establishment of harbor limits, and construction of a pavilion, a parking area, storm water retention pond and underground electric/water lines located on property where TVA owns a flowage easement.
These activities require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act and approval by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers under Section10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. TVA cooperated with the Corps in the preparation of an environmental assessment of the proposed facilities. TVA has adopted this environmental assessment.
