John Sevier Fossil Plant
Reduction of Nitrogen Oxides
Hawkins County, Tennessee
TVA evaluated four alternative technologies either alone or in combination (six total alternatives) for achieving substantial additional reductions of NOx emissions (a precursor to ozone formation) from John Sevier Fossil Plant. Further reductions of such emissions from John Sevier would assist in TVA’s efforts to reduce NOx emissions system-wide and thereby have a beneficial impact on regional air quality.
As described in the environmental assessment, TVA has chosen to undertake an adaptive management approach to selecting technologies and mitigation measures. With adherence to the commitments and monitoring, implementation of any of the alternatives would have only insignificant impacts on the environment.
