Rollison Marina at Shoal Creek
Wilson Reservoir, Lauderdale County, Alabama
On December 10, 2008, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact and final environmental assessment (FEA) for a private marina, loading dock, and associated facilities on Wilson Reservoir. The FEA was prepared in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
In December 2007, TVA and USACE received a joint permit application from Mr. Randy Rollison for construction and operation of a multiple-slip commercial marina, floating walkways, fuel and pump-out dock, boat launching/loading platform, and an L-configured breakwater fronting his property on Shoal Creek. Associated land-based facilities on his private land would include a dry stack boat storage building, ship store, restaurant, and retail space. The marina and associated amenities would primarily function to serve the boating public and provide short-term mooring on Wilson Reservoir. The development would be located along the right bank of Shoal Creek at Mile 1.4, opposite Tennessee River Mile 264.4, right bank.
The marina, loading dock, floating walkways, launching/loading platform, breakwater, and associated shoreline improvements require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act and by the USACE under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
TVA and the USACE issued a draft of this environmental assessment for public review in September 2008. All comments received on the draft have been considered and addressed in the FEA.
