Rarity Club Marina
On May 12, 2009, TVA issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) and released a final environmental assessment (FEA) of Nickajack Shores Holdings LLC’s proposal to construct a 336-slip commercial marina (Rarity Club Marina) adjacent to Tennessee River Mile 426.7, right bank, Nickajack Reservoir, in Marion County, Tennessee. The FEA, prepared in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), evaluates the potential environmental impacts of the proposed action. The FEA and FONSI are presented below.
On March 9, 2009, TVA issued a draft environmental assessment (DEA) to advertise the proposed work and to solicit comments on the proposal. The DEA review period ended on April 8, 2009. Comments received as a result of the DEA review are addressed in the FEA. The proposed commercial marina would provide boat mooring facilities to residents at Rarity Club residential development and other members of the general public. The commercial marina and associated structures require approval by TVA under Section 26a of the TVA Act and by USACE under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and/or Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
